"Thanks so much for taking the time to talk with the students today! They had such a good time. I asked them what they thought after we hung up and they had responses like "she's like a regular person" (I'm not sure what they thought an author would be like!) and "she's funny" or my personal favorite from Jerome "I'd be friends with her" Watch a news story about the visit Amy had with this group here.

Amy Jobst, Assistant Director, Reading For Life program

"Earlier in the school year I had the opportunity to listen to you speak about your book and the writing process at my school. I was instantly intrigued by your book Gated and have been dying to read it since. Yesterday I was finally able to purchase a copy and read it. I read two chapters last night and finished the remainder of the book less an hour ago. I couldn't put it down. It was an amazing read and there is no doubt in my mind that it is a book that i will read over and over again for years to come. I justed wanted to thank you for coming and speaking to us at the school and for releasing an amazing piece of literature. I can't wait to read the next book you put out! Thank you again!"

Gaby, a student at Council Rock South High School

"THANK YOU so much again for coming to South on Monday morning to talk about what it’s like to write a novel and some specific information on Gated, its sequel, and the fantasy books that you are working on.  I really enjoyed your presentation and I think others did too!!  The students are really looking forward to reading your book!!  A colleague already came up to the library to ask if she could borrow the copy of the book that you donated to us!!!!"

Stacy Rosenthal, Librarian at Council Rock South High School

What a fantastic author visit we had for the Amelia Island Book Festival! Prior to the visit, every 7th and 8th grader, over 400 students, received a copy of GATED. As Ms. Parker signed the books, she personalized every book by asking questions about their interest in reading, book preference and types of reading, etc. One student even stopped me in the hallway to tell me her name was going to be the name of a character in Ms. Parker's next book. The signing session was followed by lunch with a very excited group of 10 readers who read 12 Sunshine State books for the honor of dining with the author. Those students also received a copy of ASTRAY and Ms. Parker autographed those too. She also conducted a writing workshop for a group of 20 prospective student writers and then did two high-energy assemblies with YA author Christina Farley. I was so pleased with the day that I'm going to recommend the other middle and high school in our district try to schedule a similar day for their students.
